Max Speed: 35.96 !!!! (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered:

Its taken 25 years but I have finally made over 30 kt !!!!!!!!!!!! and what a day - The Ray is a great spot and a proper speedsailer would have done way over 40 kts but I'm not complaining :)
I felt like a real speedsailer !!! up at 5 and on the road at 6 arriving at Chalkwell way too early :( and as I have not sailed here before waited a couple of hours for someone else to show up,he rigged 4.7 and I went for 6.4 !!! faint heart never won the day being my motto !!! So after the long long long walk out to find some water I run aground the first run with 28 kts on the gps broke my harness line and go straight through the sail :( Another long walk to rig the 5.8 and try again !!! and this set up was great :) Making my way down the bumpy Ray to the west course towards the peir then I just turned downwind and flew :) Being new to the Ray and having already run aground once I was nervous of going too close to the sandbank which is a mistake as it was abit bumpy !!! I did this loads of runs, even though the beat back was lumpy and the wind increasing by the minute to 30 kts I was even adjusting the outhaul for up and downwind and I have never sailed that broad in my life + Making sure I had done enough runs for a good averge and being totally knackered I then had the final beat back to the causeway and the long walk back to the van.So a mega mega day with the sun out being watched by loads of seal and a big big thankyou to Maggie (the wife) for holding the fort giving me this opportunity :) I will be back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
